Bowhunter Nationals 2008.

Well, what a tournament.  53 shooters registered but we ended up with 50 actual archers competing.

A very successful tournament hosted by Massey Archery Club – who we must give a big Thank You to.

The weather held for the weekend and the new format of starting at midday on Saturday worked well and this is something that future Executives may wish to follows.

The tournament saw the first qualifying rounds for NZ Team selection for the World Bowhunter Tournament, being held next year in USA, with a good number of competitors achieving their first qualifying scores for consideration and also meeting the first part of the participation criteria for selection.  An excellent result all round.

Saturday’s round was a first for New Zealand so the winners in each division now hold the current New Zealand Records for that round.

Top score for the tournament was Trevor Irvine with a total 1466.

There was one amazing point in the tournament – we had Amy, Mort & Earl Heaven shooting their various divisions and they all ended up first in their division – but wait for it – they all had the same score of 1244….. what are the odds of that happening?

In closing, I wish to congratulate all the winners and place getters at the tournament and until we meet again.

Shoot straight.
Cheryl – Your Past President.
